Ep 52: The Mirror Doesn’t Lie: But What Does it Want to Tell You?
Life is a constant dance of reflection. Not just in the physical sense, but in the way people, situations, and experiences act as mirrors, revealing aspects of ourselves that crave attention. These mirrors aren't just there to show us where our mascara smudged; they're here to nudge us towards wholeness and authenticity.
Sometimes, the reflection can be harsh. It might expose cracks in our facade, the places where we hold back or compromise our true selves. Maybe it's a fear that paralyses us, or a situation that triggers anger. These mirrors can be frustrating, even triggering, but they're invitations for self-discovery. By shifting our perspective, we can see them as opportunities for growth.
I remember a powerful mirror experience in my own life. It was like a dam broke within me, a rush of emotions I'd been holding back for so long. It stemmed from a facade I'd built, this belief that I had to hold everything together to feel worthy. But that day, the facade crumbled, and with it, the immense weight I'd been carrying. It was a moment of immense liberation.
The key lies in our reaction to these mirrors. Instead of getting angry or defensive, we need to ask ourselves: "Why is this showing up? What is it trying to teach me?" This requires humility, an acceptance that we're not perfect and there's always room for growth. It's a chance to take action, to address the issues reflected back at us and move closer to the person we're truly meant to be.
